Writing a personal manifesto is an alternative way to achieve your goals and if you haven’t written one before, it might turn out to be your best strategy.

Here are the ways it can help you focus and achieve…

Prioritizing: Identifying your non-negotiables. What are the things that are most important to you and would have the most impact on your life?

Motivation: Helps you get back on track when you’re discouraged or distracted.

Accountability: Lays out the action steps you need to make progress and achieve your goal.

Mindset: When you have clear intentions set, it’s easier to develop a growth mindset and recognize opportunities when they appear.

But I’m really busy! Is it worth my time?

It’s worth the small investment of your time and energy. It will act like your compass, guiding you toward your goal and keeping you on track.

Your Step-by-Step Guide to Writing Your Own Personal Manifesto:

  1. Start by reflecting on your core values. What matters most to you in life? Think of areas of your life you want to focus on. What do you want to achieve?
  2. Use your reflections to create a list of intentions and goals. These should be specific and measurable and should reflect your values and priorities.
  3. Write your action steps. Be specific on which actions you will take.
  4. Set accountability measures. Example: “I will review my action steps daily or weekly to make sure I’m following my plan”
  5. Include Mindset shifts. “I will commit to (mindset shift) by practicing daily.”
  6. Congrats! You just created your first draft of your personal focus manifesto.
  7. Edit and revise your manifesto as you see fit. Don’t overthink it or spend too much time editing. 5-10 minutes max.
  8. Now you’re done! Print it out, put it somewhere visible and/or save it to your desktop.

Tips to make the most of your personal focus manifesto

Keep it Visible: First and foremost, keep your personal manifesto visible and accessible. Print it out and put it on your fridge or your office wall. Make it the wallpaper on your phone or computer.

Whatever works best for you, just make sure it’s accessible!

Read it Often: Use your personal manifesto as a source of motivation and inspiration. Read it often, and remind yourself of why you’re pursuing your goals.

Track your Progress: Your personal manifesto can help you hold yourself accountable for your actions and outcomes. But it’s important to track your progress so that you know you are committing to your manifesto.  

Set specific goals and actions, and regularly check your progress against them.

Make Adjustments (when needed): Your priorities can change over time. Remember that your personal manifesto is a living document that can evolve over time.

Don’t be afraid to revisit it and make changes as your goals and priorities shift. Be flexible and adaptable, and use your personal manifesto as a tool to help you navigate through the chaos.
